Eddie also has extensive knowledge of construction as he oversaw the completion of 350 Fred’s stores including parking lot paving and repair. Eddie was then hired to work for the University of Memphis as the Director of Residents Life which included all maintenance and repair of the dorms. He worked with architects, engineers and construction on new building developments. His role as a “problem solver” is what has helped Eddie excel in all his roles.
Eddie Branan is now retired and devotes his time to serving the residents Tate County and his family. He can apply these business skills to help solve the issues that are facing our community. His commitment to making Tate County the best place to raise a family is evident in every decision he makes. After 44 years of experience in the corporate world, Eddie believes that if you have a responsibility of doing a task, then you should do it to the very best of your ability and that you should admit and learn from your mistakes. That is exactly what Eddie does each day as a Tate County Supervisor. “There is never a problem that can’t be solved with being respectful of each other and being open minded. Working together is key.”
Priorities
Eddie Branan Priorities- Infrastructure improvements- Roads and Bridges, Lower taxes, bringing industry and creating jobs
Infrastructure improvements are a key priority to all the Tate County Supervisors. On the campaign trail, Eddie heard many complaints and frustrations with the quality of the county roads and bridges. Developing a plan, hiring a Road Manager, structing the road department and acquiring the appropriate equipment has proved to be a successful way to reach the goal of improving the roads. Eddie’s strong corporate background has proved to be key in completing these steps.
Everyone wants lower taxes and that is an easy thing to say but a harder goal to accomplish but something that is happening in Tate County. The leadership in Tate County has been laser focused on each budget item and being the best stewards of county money. They are proud that they have been able to lower the millage rate consecutively for 3 years. More plans are underway to continue to lower tax rates and cut car tag cost.
Being a supervisor means you must think in 3 ways. Past, present and future. You must look and learn from the past, address present needs and plan for the future growth and development. Planning for new industry and creating new jobs has been a top focus for Eddie. In order to grow our county, we must have jobs that can sustain a family. Setting goals, developing a plan, and completing benchmarks are key to the success of our community. Eddie’s leadership has helped make these things happen.
